Katy Perry Just Beat Taylor Swift To A Huge Milestone
Katy Perry just crashed the ultimate boys club. After hanging around in the mid 900 millions for a while, KP’s “Dark Horse” video crossed a major milestone on Tuesday morning (June 9), when it became just the third video ever — and first by a female artist — to notch more than one billion views. Katy Perry Just Beat Taylor Swift To A Huge Milestone
Katy was pretty psyched, writing, “Guys. Wut. Dark Horse has reached 1 BILLION views?! I seriously ur balls & ur fingers for dem clicks.”
Though the official view count on YouTube was still stuck at 985,302,706 at press time (and a bit closer at 998,787,700 on Vevo — the counter read is sometimes a bit behind the actual totals), Perry slipped into third place on the all-time list behind Psy’s “Gangnam Style” (an untouchable 2.3 billion) and his label mate Justin Bieber’s 2010 smash “Baby” with nearly 1.2 billion clicks.
Even as she smashes the glass ceiling, Katy’s knocking on the door again with the #4 all-time video, “Roar,” which had more than 954 million views at press time. But she might have some competition soon from sometime rival Taylor Swift, whose “Blank Space” is currently at #5 with more than 923 million.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry (born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson on 25 October 1984) is a singer/songwriter from Santa Barbara, California, United States. Since the release of her 2007 debut single “Ur So Gay”, Perry has released two albums – 2008’s “One of the Boys” and 2010’s “Teenage Dream” – and has had six Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit singles.
Under the name Katy Hudson, she released a self-titled gospel album in 2001, which was unsuccessful. She later recorded an album with production team The Matrix and completed the majority of a solo album from 2004–05, the later of which was never released.

Couple Singing Two Taylor Swift Songs Simultaneously is Seriously Stunning!!
Louisa Wendorff and Devin Dawson sing Taylor Swifts’s ‘Blank Space’ and ‘Style’ in this truly amazing acoustic cover.
It’s been such a hit the past few days that even Taylor Swift tweeted it.
‘’Blank Space’’ is the second single from Taylor Swifts’s still pulls on our heart strings. The most mesmerizing songs of all time.
Lyrics:
Nice to meet you
Where you been?
I could show you incredible things
Magic, madness, heaven, sin
Saw you there and I thought oh my god
Look at that face, you look like my next mistake
Love’s a game, wanna play
Midnight
You come and pick me up, no headlights
Long drive
Could end in burning flames or paradise

Happy 5th Anniversary, Sistar!
Happy 5th Anniversary, Sistar! Watch the K-Pop Girl Group’s 5 Best Music Videos!!
- But the No. 1 reason Sistar continues slaying the game is probably because they look like they’re having the best time doing what they do.
- That’s demonstrated best in the summery video for this 2012 single.
- The best part about this vid is that the girls are essentially only doing activities that are pretty hard not to have fun in — roasting hot dogs in a bonfire, shooting water guns, swimming — how could the audience not love it either?
- The Hawaiians couldn’t keep their eyes off the girls which shouldn’t be hard to understand — this is an awesomely adorable and colorful visual and the best one by the girls…so far.
- Sistar switched up their image with this sultry visual, heading to Las Vegas to get sexy in Sin City.
- “Alone” essentially set a new standard in K-pop that a girl group could show a more alluring side without getting raunchy.
- They’reare more or less covered the entire video (e.g. the girls’ red dresses have turtlenecks and their black dresses all have long sleeves), and the vid hones in on splashes of sexiness like peeks at unexpected tattoos, pops of skin or moves where Sistar somehow make leg swaying look extremely foxy.
- Like the best K-pop visuals, there’s a lot going on here and Sistar‘s 2015 hit brings together all the best things about summer, but does it with the glossiest sheen imaginable.
- There’s no plot here past ladies having fun and dancing in a host of colorful and tropical sets — the pool, a technicolor kitchen, a neon-tinged club and an all-pink dancefloor.
- By far, it’s one of K-pop’s yummiest videos.
- At first, this video does look like the girls are just pining after the guys, looking rather submissive.
- But by the end, our girls upowningthese dudes as Soyu tells her man to get on his knees, Dasom ties her’s to a chair and Bora traps her fella in a tanning bed.
- For K-pop’s standards, this is hardcore feminism.
- It was one of Sistar’s earliest videos, but it was smart in showcasing the group’s flirty side while also showing the girls looking like they were having genuine fun with one another.
- There’s an unexpected twist for their love interest at the end that keeps this from falling into played-out, girl-wants-a-kiss K-pop video territory and earns “Shady Girl” a spot in the Top 5.
- Though, some of the fashion is cringe-worthy — whoever styled Hyolyn here was hopefully let go.

The Most Powerful Couples In Music Today
It takes a single to reach the top of the charts, but couples certainly have their place in music too. When two musicians come together in life and love, their influence on the world doubles. Whether they join forces to continue to sing to the beat of their own drum, musical couples can become as powerful as the music they play. Here are four of the Most Powerful Couples In Music Today :
1.) Diana Krall and Elvis Costello:
With 36 studio albums between them, these two have sheer numbers backing their status as a powerful couple in music. The two were married in 2003 at the home of friend Elton John and have two children together.
Before their union, both had incredible careers as singer/songwriters before joining forces to produce a wonderful life together. They have collaborated musically on Krall’s albums Glad Rag Doll and The Girl In The Other Room as well as a song on the TV series Spectacle: Elvis Costello With….
2.) Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa:
The old adage “behind every great man is a great woman” certainly applies in this case. As a member of the E Street Band since 1984, Patti Scialfa and Bruce Springsteen share a long history with one another having been married since 1991. Bruce has sold over 64 million albums in America and over 120 million worldwide. Patti has released three albums herself and is reportedly working on a fourth record. Springsteen and Scialfa have three children together.
Some may call her Mrs. Carter, but first and foremost she is Beyoncé. After hitting the scene with Destiny’s Child in the late 90s, she started to gain attention for her music. When Destiny’s Child broke up in 2005, Beyoncé set out on a solo career.
Outside of making best-selling albums, Jay Z founded Roc-A-Fella Records, which became his first of many entrepreneurial endeavors. He continued to release music, as well as run a myriad of projects like the clothing brand Rocawear and being part-owner of the Brooklyn Nets.
Most recently, Beyonce and Jay Z finished up the On The Run Tour, a massive 21-stop world tour showcasing the best of both. That tour alone made the couple $109,610,198.
4.) Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani:
About 33 million records and three children later, these two have earned their seat as one of the most powerful couples in music. Stefani broke into the music industry with No Doubt in 1986. After releasing their first album in 1992, No Doubt continued to produce albums and rack up awards. In 1995, No Doubt signed on to support Bush on tour, bringing Stefani and bassist/vocalist Rossdale together. They were married in 2002, and today both are still very active in the music industry. Stefani was a coach on NBC’s The Voice, has a clothing and fragrance line and Rossdale has appeared a number of Hollywood productions as well as keeping busy with Bush since their reunion in 2010.

Lewis makes a music video about her acting career
Jenny Lewis has been arrested — for excessive display of the most glorious pantsuits known to humankind, I assume!
The former front woman of the cult-worshipped indie group Rilo Kiley, and star of this debatably over-acted Corn Pops commercial, has just released the music video for “She’s Not Me,” the second single off last year’s critically acclaimed The Voyager.
The video features Lewis and a dream team of buddies — Fred Armisen, Feist, Zosia Mamet, and Saturday Night Live‘s Vanessa Bayer — spoofing scenes from Lewis’ prolific child acting career, including her guest spot on Golden Girls, the 1989 (trademark Taylor Swift) teen comedy Troop Beverly Hills, and late-’90s anti-old white dude parable Pleasantville
.
Lewis, who directed the video herself, told Buzzfeed today, “The video is about former identities and incarnations of one’s self. It’s a super meta retrospective on my career.” While this may be true, it’s impossible to pretend that Lewis is unaware of the fact that her music exists in the age of the celebrity cameo and #throwbacks, and that her view counter lives in that world, too. These are the days of Iggy Azalea as Alicia Silverstone and Andrew Garfield showing up for Arcade Fire, and beautiful music videos don’t “break the internet” like zany, cross-promotional, allusion-heavy ones do.
The gimmick is forgivable mainly because of this shot of Zosia Mamet, whose physical comedy chops have sat unused and rusty for the last three seasons of Girls:

A sheer delight! Taylor Swift puts on a leggy display as she rocks out in racy see-through bodysuit at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend
Who Wins the Battle of the Sexes?
It looks like hit music in general has settled on some formulas: Men should stick to roughly a 3rd grade reading level and women shouldn’t sing rock songs at all (more about that later).
What does it all mean exactly? Well, women seem to be a bit smarter than men, except for when they’re not (i.e., 2008-2009). Ultimately, the genre and the artist matter much more than the gender.
Granted, it’s not exactly a team effort. Certain artists do more than their fair share to bring their gender and genre group down or up through the years. So now it’s time to break down this data a bit more by genre and see who really sets the standard for dumb.
The short answer is that everybody is getting dumber, it’s not really a gender thing. Overall, my data showed that men talk more (higher word count), but women have slightly more intelligent things to say (higher average grade level).
